Tryouts
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Are you a 13-16 year old soccer player who wants to play at the highest levels Montana has to offer and compete for at the Premier League Qualifying Championship for a spot in the Western Regional Tournament?
If so, you must attend the FC Missoula player registration and evaluations this weekend, November 7, at Fort Missoula from 2:00pm to 4:00pm to try out for a spot on one of the 4 boys and girls teams that FC Missoula has qualified to compete in the Premier League Championship and Regional Qualifying Tournament. Registration will start at 1:30pm.
The governing body of Montana Youth Soccer, MYSA, has recently changed entirely the structure of competitive soccer in Montana. From 2010 forward only 6 teams for each level, U-14, U-16 and U-18 will be allowed to compete in the Premier League Regional Qualifying Tournament. Team eligibility for those 6 spots is based on performance in the prior year. If you are not on one of those 6 teams at each age level, you will instead play in a separate Select/A Championship, and not in the Premier Regional Qualifying Tournament.
Because of the success of FC Missoula teams in 2009 we, along with Helena Arsenal and Billings Magic, are the only clubs in the entire state that have qualified both boys and girls teams at both the U-14 and U-16 levels. Thus, if you are a player who will be playing at U13- 16 in the spring of 2010 and want to play with a team that will be playing for the Premier Championship and Regional Qualifying Tournament, come to our session for evaluation, registration and potential team placement. See you there!
The Registration deadline for ages U-10 to U-13 is January 1st 2010. We still have room on some teams so please send your registrations in as soon as possible. For information on the teams that are being formed contact fcmissoula@live.com.
(JUST ADDED - U13 TRYOUTS INCLUDED WITH THIS WEEKEND TRYOUT. NOTE: IF YOU ATTENDED THE NOV 1ST TRYOUTS, YOU DO NOT NEED TO ATTEND THIS TRYOUT ALSO)

TRAINING FOR TRYOUTS IS ALL ABOUT ATTITUDE
Tryouts are just around the corner. Some players find tryouts to be a nerve-wracking time, but if you take the time in the offseason and prepare yourself there's no reason why you won't hear your name called when it comes time to pick the team. Here are a few tips that can help you get thru the tryout process.
TIP # 1
You want to be in shape when you show up at tryouts. That does not mean you have to knock yourself out during the off season, but you should not be out of breath after the first drill. There are a lot of activities that you can do during the off season. You can play other sports, weight train, bike ride and jog.
TIP # 2
Don't let tryouts be the first time you have stepped on the pitch since the last season. Get on the pitch a few times before tryouts so you can regain the touch on the ball and condition the muscles that are needed. Playing in pick ups is a great way to practice your skills and get in shape. It is also a great chance to make sure your equipment is in good condition and still fits.
TIP # 3
Go out and play your game. Do what you do well and don't be distracted by who's evaluating or what other players are doing on the pitch. Be assertive, be hungry, and be at the front of the line for every drill and training session. Pay attention and listen to the coache's instructions. Show them that you're excited to be there and you're ready to do whatever it takes to make the team.
TIP # 4
If you miss a pass, miss a shot, or get bumped off a ball, don't dwell on it. Get back up and keep working hard. Keep a positive frame of mind, and look forward to you next opportunity to do something well.
REMEMBER THIS
It's up to you to earn a spot on your team. Don't look to blame anyone else if you don't succeed. Hopefully you'll make the team you're trying out for. If things don't work out, it's important to learn from the experience and continue to work hard on all aspects of your game.
